What are you leading?
Creadoras, is a social enterprise, which is a school of leadership and entrepreneurship for women and girls. We currently work in Peru, in a community called Arequipa. Our purpose is to educate and empower women and girls to be creators of change. We do this through our educational leadership and entrepreneurship programs that focus on four topics: Leadership, Financial Education, Emotional Intelligence and Entrepreneurship. Currently, we have impacted 1200 women and girls, students, secondary school teachers and adult women. Through this work, we have created a thriving community of women and girls, who are working and learning collectively to create more opportunities and support for one another, to enable each of them to thrive and meet their potential.
How did your experiences as a fellow inspire or prepare you for what you’re doing now?
My experience as a teacher with Enseña Peru was a transformative experience that still impacts the way I work each day. Thanks to this experience I discovered and strengthened my gift to educate and lead. I also realized the extent of gender inequity in Peru and was driven to take action to do something about it with the other leaders, including my students and parents, within the community in which I taught. The community of alumni and the organization - Enseña Peru - continue to be a source of inspiration and learning for me today, and their support gives me the opportunity to continue growing and improving the impact I currently make through leading Creadoras.
