This week, over 200 people from across our global network arrive in Baoshan prefecture in China’s Yunnan Province for the Teach For All 2013 Annual Conference, hosted by network partner Teach For China.
With the theme of "Connect, Learn, Reflect," the conference will immerse attendees in the rural Chinese context in which Teach For China places many of its Fellows. Local school and community visits and panels led by Teach For China Fellows and staff will serve as the foundation for broader exploration into addressing educational inequity around the world.
Linking China’s unique context to the global educational landscape, renowned author and journalist Tom Friedman will open the conference with a keynote address on the challenges and opportunities facing education in our increasingly competitive and connected world. Focusing more specifically on the impact of successful school systems, Teach For All board member and head of education for the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Andreas Schleicher, will use China as a case study as he discusses what makes a great school system and why rapid, dramatic improvement is possible. Throughout the three days, attendees will participate in over 40 break-out sessions designed to highlight innovations, explore emerging insights, and share knowledge and perspectives from across the network.
Participants will be sharing their experiences on social media throughout the conference. Follow #TFALLGC2013 on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for updates and reflections from the Teach For All community in Baoshan and around the world.
