We're thrilled to announce that Salyne El Samarany, CEO of Teach For All network partner Teach For Lebanon, was a recipient of A World at School's 2014 Youth Courage Award. The nine award winners, aged 17 to 27 and hailing from across the globe, were recognized for having "personally demonstrated courage and leadership and acted as agents of change for universal education." The Youth Courage Awards were presented by the Office of the United Nations Special Envoy for Global Education as part of the A World at School #UpForSchool Youth Rally at New York University on September 22.
As CEO of Teach For Lebanon, Salyne has helped expand educational opportunity for more than 4000 children, including Palestinian and Syrian refugees, orphans, and street children. At 27 years old, she is spearheading efforts to mobilize a generation of leaders who bring energy, innovative practice, and a sense of mission to the field. Teach For All is inspired by Salyne's work and proud that she has been honored by the global community for her commitment to the vision that all children in Lebanon should have the opportunity to attain an excellent education.
