Research & Evaluation Fellowship
Teach For All’s Data, Research, Evaluation, & Measurement (DREAM) team aims to advance the network’s research, evaluation, and data collection efforts. In addition to developing targeted support initiatives, the team established the Research & Evaluation Fellowship to help network partners make evidence-based decisions appropriate to their local contexts.
Staff of more than 15 Teach For All partners participated in the initial round of the Fellowship, which launched in June 2016. After a successful first year, the fellowship was extended to offer more practical, in depth support to partners. A second iteration of the Fellowship for a new cohort of partner staff is slated to launch in 2018.
The Learning Approach
- Module series – Fellows engage with a series of modules that guide them through the stages of building the skills and tools to monitor and evaluate the impact of their participants and alumni, as well as their long-term progress towards developing collective leadership within communities.
- Virtual learning – Via a monthly call series, Fellows gain insights from leading academic and external experts, present and provide feedback on each other’s case studies, and from and with each other in ongoing small group conversations.
- Network Learning Trips – These gatherings bring partners together to share their work, lessons learned, and best practices, and to learn from experts in research and evaluation beyond the network. In March 2017, various partners presented their work from the Fellowship at the Comparative and International Education Society Conference (CIES) 2017. The Fellowship’s third annual network learning trip will focus on internal and external engagement on evidence and coincide with CIES 2018.
- Research & Evaluation Learning Guide – In partnership with Mathematica, the team is developing a learning guide that provides an overview of each step in the DREAM approach, along with tips. tools, and relevant internal and external case studies. The guide is a critical resource to partners as they develop their research and evaluation capacity throughout the Fellowship.
