Svitlana is the Interim CEO and Co-founder of Teach For Ukraine. Born and raised in Kyiv, Ukraine, Svitlana holds BA and MA degrees in Japanese and English studies from Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University, she also focused on International Education studies during her one-year exchange program in Tsukuba, Japan.
Having worked in education as a teacher, teacher trainer, and deputy director of studies for over eight years, Svitlana has always been impressed with the impact of quality education and sense of possibility on the life of every person. Originally, her primary focus was on creating language opportunities for adults, students, and teachers alike, but with every personal story she heard she realized that the roots of change lie in childhood and the school environment. This propelled her to look for ways to reach every child in Ukraine and create the conditions most conducive to developing their sense of possibility, self-efficacy, and skills to help them reach their life goals. In 2016, along with three likeminded partners she co-founded Teach For Ukraine, which has been working ever since to ensure that every child in Ukraine has a chance to reach their potential.
