Harnessing Collective Leadership to shape the future of AI and Technology in education

We stand at an unprecedented moment of possibility. AI foundation models (large language models or LLMs) are democratizing the power to create teaching and learning tools, enabling teachers and communities worldwide to design learning experiences that reflect their values and unlock their students' potential. Through our global network of organizations in 60+ countries dedicated to developing collective leadership in education, Teach For All is uniquely positioned to ensure this transformation is grounded in equity and justice.

A Moment of Unprecedented Opportunity

Tools that enable teachers and students to work in radically new ways are becoming more accessible to everyone. The interactions between plain language and intuitive tools and AI interfaces are eliminating the technical barriers that, until now, have been the reserve of education services providers and edtech companies.

This is our moment to reimagine education. Through AI foundation models, a teacher can now create personalized learning experiences and students in under-resourced communities can design AI tutors that speak their language and understand their culture.

What matters most is not whether AI enters classrooms, but whether educators and communities guide its use in ways that strengthen—not replace—their teaching and learning traditions. Teach For All's AI & Educational Technology Initiative was created to ensure educators and students in even the most underserved communities are empowered to lead.

The AI & Educational Technology Initiative

Our Collective Challenge:

How are we supporting educators and communities to become confident creators and leaders of AI-enhanced education that serves their students and reflects their values?

Four Foundational Pillars

Developing deep understanding of AI capabilities, limitations, and implications for education and society

Fostering the confidence and skills to design, build, and iterate AI solutions that serve local educational needs

Building collective capacity for communities to make informed decisions about AI in education and lead technological change

Creating connections between educator-innovators, communities, and allies to share knowledge, resources, and support

Building Solutions Together

Transforming educators from technology consumers to confident AI creators and innovators

Ensuring all communities have pathways to AI literacy and creation beyond consumption

Amplifying local knowledge systems and cultural wisdom in AI-enhanced education

Creating networks where educators learn from each other and build solutions together

Offering structured support for educators to develop AI literacy and creation skills

Building AI solutions that prioritize student wellbeing and educational equity

Our Flagship Programs

AI Literacy & Creator Collective

Co-Designing the Future of Education with AI

The AI Literacy & Creator Collective is a distributed global initiative that puts teachers at the very center of the discussion and development surrounding AI.

Teach For All participants and alumni will not only have the opportunity to engage in refinement of the latest advances in globally crafted AI Literacy Frameworks, but will also have direct influence in the development roadmap of the leading foundation model companies, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and other and emerging model developers, ensuring educator voices shape how foundation models evolve to meet real classroom needs.

The AI Literacy & Creator Collective isn't just training teachers to use AI tools. We’re establishing interconnected collectives of educators who become co-architects of AI development itself, and the ways in which AI tools are implemented.

The collective model enables scale through peer-to-peer learning and distributed leadership, creating innovation networks at multiple levels: within school communities, across regions and nations, and through collectives that transcend geographic and traditional institutional limits.

Our Strategic Vision: Educational Agency in a Time of Technological Transformation

For too long, learning communities worldwide have accepted educational solutions imposed by corporations optimizing for profitable markets, not learner outcomes. AI foundation models change everything—they enable educational sovereignty where communities control their own learning experiences.

Traditional EdTech companies maintained power through technical complexity and closed systems. AI eliminates these barriers. Through natural language interaction, a teacher in an under-resourced community can now create personalized learning games as sophisticated as those built by industry professionals.

Our Vision Outcomes

Global Transformation

A world where AI amplifies local educational wisdom rather than replacing it, creating new possibilities for learning and teaching worldwide.

Our Strategic Vision Framework

Every initiative we pursue is reviewed within a framework of four programmatic "tests": the tests of equity, scale, sustainability, and impact. This framework becomes especially critical as a the proliferation of AI grows, where the default trajectory prioritizes the commercial interests of foundation model developers—achieving scale and profitability—while ignoring community focused needs for equity, sustainability, and genuine learning impact.

Could this intervention reduce or eliminate barriers for the most marginalized learners?

In the AI context, this means ensuring that AI development includes members of under-resourced communities as creators and decision-makers, not just consumers. Traditional EdTech consistently fails this test by optimizing for affluent early adopters and standardized solutions that erase local knowledge systems.

Can this approach reach millions of learners across diverse contexts without losing effectiveness?

Our AI Literacy & Creator Collective model is designed for distributed scale—peer-to-peer learning and collective innovation that grows organically rather than through corporate expansion.

Can this work continue and deepen over time without creating new dependencies?

True sustainability in AI education means building local capacity to create, adapt, and control AI tools rather than increasing reliance on distant corporations.

Does this intervention demonstrably improve educational outcomes and transform learning experiences?

True impact means evidence that students learn more effectively, teachers are empowered, and communities have greater agency over their educational futures—not just increased technology usage or engagement metrics.
