OECD and Teach For All sign MOU to strengthen education systems and advance the work of the Global Institute for shaping a better future
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Teach For All, and the Global Institute for Shaping a Better Future, an initiative of Teach For All, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to deepen their longstanding collaboration and advance a shared commitment to strengthening education systems so that all students can thrive and shape a better future.
The partnership builds on a shared belief in the transformative power of education and the critical role educators play in shaping the future. It reflects a common commitment to elevating the role of teachers, understanding the challenges they face and how best to support their success, and leveraging data and research to improve learning outcomes for all students.
Through the MOU, Teach For All and the OECD will continue collaborating across three key areas:
-
Promoting and Valuing Educators: Raising the visibility of teachers' contributions, recognizing educators as powerful leaders and changemakers, and deepening understanding of the challenges they face and the support they need to succeed.
-
Improving Learning Outcomes: Drawing on research, data, and insights from education systems and practitioners to better understand what enables all learners to succeed and how education systems can support their development.
- Developing Educators and Learners as Leaders: Advancing shared learning on how educators and young people can develop the leadership, mindsets, and capabilities to drive meaningful change in their classrooms, schools, and communities.
“The latest PISA results highlight the urgency of strengthening education systems to better prepare young people for a rapidly changing world. Teachers are central to this transformation. Through our partnership with Teach For All and the Global Institute, we can bring together research, policy and practice to equip students to shape a better future,” said Andreas Schleicher, Director for Education and Skills at the OECD and Chair of the Global Institute’s Global Advisory Council.
“OECD plays such a leading role in supporting education leaders across systems to reflect on their progress and to innovate in pursuit of all children having the education, support, and opportunity to shape a better future, reflected Wendy Kopp, CEO and Co-Founder of Teach For All. "We’re excited to deepen our partnership with the Education and Skills Directorate in the coming years.¨
The collaboration will connect the OECD's global research, data, and policy expertise with Teach For All's network of locally led organizations and the Global Institute's efforts to bring together educators, researchers, and policymakers to reimagine education.
Teach For All and the OECD will convene experts, educators, and policymakers through joint events and discussions, creating opportunities to exchange research, insights, and perspectives that can inform education policy and practice.
Recent examples of this collaboration include a conversation between Wendy Kopp and Andreas Schleicher on the findings of the OECD's Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) 2024, exploring what the findings reveal about the teaching profession and the critical role of educators in shaping the future of education. Building on this dialogue, Wendy and Andreas will come together again on November 24, 2026 for a Better Future Conversation, Lessons from PISA 2025: Education in a Changing World, to explore the latest findings and their implications for education systems in a rapidly changing world.
The agreement represents a further step in the longstanding relationship between Teach For All and the OECD, reinforcing their shared ambition to strengthen the teaching profession, improve learning outcomes, and equip educators and learners to lead change.
Through this collaboration, both organizations will contribute to education systems that empower every student to thrive and shape a better future for themselves and the world around them.
