Drama Club: Building student confidence and agency through self expression
Publication date
Growing up, Teach For Kenya Fellow Griffin struggled to express himself and was often mocked for it. Drama and music helped him develop his communication skills, and today he’s using that experience to build student confidence in his classroom. Griffin launched Drama Club to create a safe and open learning environment and encourage student voice. Through the experience, he found himself shifting from authority figure to facilitator as he helped his learners step out of their comfort zones and express what’s on their minds. Through Drama Club, Griffin and his learners are transforming their classroom culture and unlocking student agency.
