“Living in these two different setups where in school I felt low, and then in my community I felt that privilege…at some moment I thought, I don't know who I am anymore.”

In this video for Zero Discrimination Day, Teach For Uganda alumnus Oroma Kenneth reflects on his journey from his childhood in internal displacement camps in Northern Uganda to his education in the western part of the country—and the role discrimination played in holding him and his community back. Oroma describes how he’s come to see the strengths of his community, and to understand that the path forward requires everyone—both those who have had educational opportunities outside the community and those who have remained within the community—working together to advance progress.
