Early in Mette Toft Nielsen's journey as a Teach First Danmark fellow, a conversation with one of her students sparked a deeper reflection on racism, belonging, and equity in education. Today, Mette works as an independent consultant focused on anti-racism, anti-discrimination, and creating safer, more equitable spaces for young people—spanning curriculum development, teacher training, organizational change, and policy advocacy. She also co-founded SPARK Teachers, a community for racially minoritized educators across Europe. Teach First Danmark was not only the beginning of a teaching career. For Mette, it was the beginning of a career dedicated to making a difference—and the foundation that was built in her classroom continues to shape everything she does today.
