Voices of Amazonas: Partnering with communities to redefine leadership by empowering girls

Publication date
A group of young Indigenous women stand together outdoors surrounded by lush greenery, holding printed papers as they sing or read aloud during an event.

Led by Enseña Perú in partnership with Awajun communities, Creciendo Juntas is a transformative initiative focused on advancing girls' education, gender equity, and leadership growth within Indigenous communities in the Amazonas region. By creating safe spaces, the project places female students at the center of their own development. Through storytelling, mentorship, and close collaboration with Indigenous women leaders, Enseña Perú educators, families, and local authorities, the project empowers young girls to heal from the pain of structural violence, build self-confidence, and find their voices.
