As a Teach For Kenya fellow, Racheal Vichei learned that many of the girls in the community where she taught were facing gender-based violence and sexual assault. Racheal helped community members raise their voices around the issue, and together they asked the local authorities for support. Ensuring the needs of marginalized children are addressed and that all children, regardless of their circumstances, receive a quality education are the passions that continue to motivate Racheal in her current role working in conflict-affected areas of the Democratic Republic of Congo. As part of an international team with Justice Rising International, she helps build schools and works with families, teachers, local leaders, and students to “transform war zones through education.”

Watch the video to learn more about Racheal’s work, including her “scary dream” of establishing an education and innovation center for girls in conflict-affected areas of Africa, and learn more about how Teach For All partners and their teachers and alumni are addressing Education in Emergencies across the network.
